Call Us Uke-Ladies
My coworker’s little girl, L, will be giving her first performance in her elementary school choir next month, and she is nervous! L is nervous because she is going to be singing in front of strangers. Yet, she has no problem singing at karaoke. (I’ve sung with her!)
I told my coworker that the reason that her daughter is nervous is because a performance counts. When her little girl sings at karaoke, she doesn’t care. Now, she must sing with other people, and she must sing songs that she has been practicing a certain way. Major difference.
A dim sum date was scheduled a month ago, and my coworker and her daughter were invited. A plan was also developed… sing and play ukes for L. I wanted to give her a little performance and show her that there was nothing that she should be worried about. I think it worked!
